I have been where you are. Angry, confused, sad, hopeless, with fleeting moments of freedom sprinkled in.
My faith crisis began in 2006. But, really way before. I spent years in doubt. Scared to follow my inner knowing. Scared that I should read what I “shouldn’t” read, ya know?! It is maddening when you find out that anti mormon literature is just the actual church history “they” didn’t want you to read. Damn! Can you believe it?!
Giving yourself permission to find your way out is the bravest thing you have ever done. I love movies and music and I find connection in all of it and how it relates to me and my leaving religion. I was just like Truman, as he finally opened the door of his walled world, having no idea what was waiting for him on the other side. (If you have not seen The Truman Show, that is your first homework assignment.) Yeah, that place.
You may be in the raw stage of faith crisis or maybe you are 10+ years out and still feeling strong feelings of grief that seem to be your constant companion, yet you can’t figure out why. You feel like you “should” be over it by now. Yeah?
I know why tho. The way we think and process is set deeply in the neural pathways of our brain. You have spent a lifetime thinking and behaving one certain way. Some of those old thought patterns are so deeply ingrained in you that you can’t see how they are effecting your life now.
This is where I come in!
I know that religious trauma is a real thing and unless you have been through it, you have no idea how hard that journey can be. Getting to the other side of mormonism, when mormonism has been your whole identity can feel like an uphill climb. But, what I believe to be true is, you are worth it, and you always have been.
You have always been worthy and now I get to show you how that is true. I love sitting with you in our sessions and seeing your aha moments again and again. It is one of my most favorite things!
Oh and since this is an about me page, here are a few things about me…
I love milk duds with my popcorn.
I am on a quest to see the world. I {heart} traveling.
I believe a good pedicure can cure just about any problem.
I love a good old fashion belly laugh. The kind when you can't catch your breath and you can't even remember what got you laughing in the first place.
I sleep with a "snuggle pillow."
I make the best mint chocolate chip ice cream cake you will ever eat.
I love live music and you may find me at a concert dancing and singing like I actually am a rock star.
I love reading and I have a stack of books next to my bed that never really goes down because I am always adding to it.
I love a good unsolicited hug from my boys.
I am a mom to two boys (25 & 23), one is in the church and one is out of the church.
I love wine, even tho I don’t know all the fancy things about it.
I talk to my 40 house plants.
Okay, I think that is about it. I would love for you to become my client so I can learn more about you.
You are my hero, I want you to know that!
